There is a lot of confusion around CANNABIS oil. Why should you buy full-spectrum oil? How does it differ from broad-spectrum? What are the benefits of full-spectrum oil?
We have tried to explain some of the reasons. Be with us.
What is full-spectrum oil?
Cannabis plants contain different active compounds having various health benefits. They can be broadly segregated into three categories:
- Cannabinoids -These are natural compounds available in cannabis plants, and we have identified 113 types of cannabinoids to date. The most active and well-recognized cannabinoids are CBD, CBN, CBC, THCV and others. These compounds work through the endocannabinoid system and cause therapeutic impacts, and promoting overall functions.
- Terpenes – We have identified over 150 variety of terpene compounds in any cannabis plant. These compounds impact the plant’s fragrance, just like sandalwood or lavender. Fragrance created by terpenes impacts while using cannabis extracts for therapeutic purposes.
- Flavonoids – These compounds are present in different other plants also like Tea, Coffee and Cocoa. They offer anti-inflammatory and neuroprotective benefits. So, flavonoids have immense usage in herbal medication. Cannabis plants include over 20 types of different flavonoids.
Full-spectrum CANNABIS oil includes all categories of naturally occurring compounds in variable ratios; they work together synergistically to promote healing.
Therapeutic benefits – Mechanism of action
Cannabis oil acts through ENDOCANNABINOID SYSTEM (ECS), which is already active in our body and works through CENTRAL NERVOUS SYSTEM. It is responsible for processing and regulating a range of functions, including sleep, mood, appetite, memory, reproduction.
Comparision to Broad-spectrum
Broad-spectrum Cannabis oil is processed mainly to remove psychoactive compounds responsible for euphoric effects in the cannabis plant. The process of removing the psychoactive compounds also removes some other essential cannabinoids or leaves them in trace amounts; broad-spectrum oilsare only rich in CANNABIDIOL (CBD).
Full-spectrum cannabis oil is the most realistic representation of herbal goodness in cannabis. It is easy to administer, safe, and you do not get unnecessary plant residues and contaminants. Usually, the proportion of CBD and other cannabinoids in full-spectrum oil is 1:1.
Why full-spectrum oil?
Medicinal research has identified that the therapeutic value of CANNABIS oil increases when multiple cannabis plant compounds are present in the extracts. Full-spectrum oil contains terpenes, flavonoids along with all the essential cannabinoids from the cannabis plant. Many case studies and their research findings suggest that full-spectrum CANNABIS oil has better therapeutic value and impact.
